What a Tuesday I had

Today I had a training down on Shelby street (where my new office is at) and it was wonderful. The speaker was an older black woman who has her Phd. I only mention that fact because she earned those degrees during a time when most blacks were not thought of as highly-like now (yeah right!). Anyway, the topic was on case management-specificallly on how to avoid burn out. I learned so much that I am still excited. I think the biggest point for me is, that now I realize that I don't have to have all the answers to all my clients myriads of questions. The clients are actually giving their problems to me while they kick back and wait for the answers from my efforts. But whoooaaa nelly, Wardy is gonna flip the script starting Wednesday!!

In order to get some, you gotta give some. A friend of mind recently asked why does society want us to try to employ ex-offenders that no one wants to hire? I gave it thought and came up with the following. It is actually better for society to hire ex-offends, because they get a $2500 tax credit every year for starters, 2ndly, people who work pay taxes which benefits all of us, 3rdly, by putting people to work will keep them from returning to the way of life that got them in trouble in the first place. Our role in this is to be the catalyst to help everyone come togeather in a peaceful way. Is this difficult? Heck-to-the-yeah!!! But that is why they got us, we are caring professionals who can and will make a differnce.

I don't know how I will feel tomorrow night, but the weather is great, gas prices are soaring and I don't care *because I am alive and healthy!!! I just want to encourage at least one person to do an act of kindness tomorrow and not to worry about the other issues....just for one day.
I am Ward....
