Customer service is dead and you helped to kill it.
I have long accepted the dicotomy of fast food being a reality, but i still have to eat at a resturant from time to time. Well here goes this crazy example. I arrived at work about 30 minutes early and felt the last fruit loop ceral wear off. I knew immedeately that Wardy must get that egg Mc Muffin that was dreamed about the previous night. So I jumped in my Mercedes SL560 ( O.k. it was an old mazda 626-but its clean) and drove down to the Keystone and 38th street McDonalds. I walked up to the line with 3 dollars in hand and a kool-aide smile on my face. But what I heard next hurt my heart.
This Hispanic woman and her guy was ready to place an order. The server was very hard at work "NOT" doing her job. She was texting on her cell phone and talking to the pancake cook about why Flavor Flav IS sexy. ( I guess looking back now I should have left at the moment??). She finally took the order and the Hispanic woman mumbled to her self an obviously bad name because the server said "Excuse you, I know Spanish"! The Hispanic (lets call her Maria) woman said I was talking to my boyfriend. Well the server looked back and told the pancake cook as her manager walked up an over heard. To my surprise, the manager sided with the server and cook make a smart remark to the customer. WTF??
I am not saying who was right or wrong in this one, but as a business -I thought the purpose was to make money by providing a service to your customer to earn and keep their business. Ya know the 20/80 rule. I would just like for once to go into a restuarant and be greeted with smile, quick and accurate service with out all the extras. Perhaps I am asking for to much on this issue. I guess it is true about changes. The only person you can change in any relationship is yourself. So the next time I go into McDonalds I am gonna stand up for justice and not allow any craziness to happen on my watch.... ( Never mind that- Them Mc Muffins are off the chains- you know we live in the ghetoo- now deal with it)!
