Last night my nephew spoke with me about some pressures that young people go through. He asked me if I ever drank in high school. I explained to hime that I have never had a drink of Alocohol in my life! He said that he hasn't either. I told him that it is nothing wrong with drinking in moderation but most of my high school and collge friends drank simply to get drunk.
Nephew stated that at some of his parties he attends drinking is expected. I can dig it because that how it was for me back in the daze.
I did not really get to deep with him about this because I wanted to see how he felt about it later on. But what I plan on telling him is this. I know that drinking is like a right of passage for many but in my opinion, the world is made up of 95% followers and 5 % leaders. Those same people who want him to drink and probably smoke are followers and they are actually looking up to nephew to see which direction he is going to lead.
I think that you can have fun with out having a drink. See at the end of the day, Alcohol is still a drug. Drugs serve a purpose, so he needs to ask him self why does he want to drink (if he chooses). Is it to fit in with the followers, to escape reality or some other reasons. Looking at the picture above you may think that Ronald doesn't want to be the McDonald poster boy, he might just want to be a freak. Who knows. My point is this, a real man blazes his own path and the greatest compliment others can give him is the gift of imitation of his actions. You at the cross roads hommie. Choose wise and live long and prosper....
