Da great Tipping Debate (remixed)
Eye don't know about U, but I don't think leaving a tip when eating out is a requirement because ummmmm.....it ISN'T! I once got into a real big drawn out discussion with an ex-waitress because she said it people like me, who hurt the waitress's income by not tipping. She even went so far as saying that wait staff only get paid $2.85 per hour. I guess that was my fault the owner of the restaurant getz over by paying below minimum wage and then expect the customer to buy the food and and then pay extra for someone to walk it over to me.
I think waiters have a hard job at times depending on the clients but I am one of them people who are big on customer service. As my new motto goes "I cant expect every 1 to think like me", I expect bad service when I go out. Its the new generations way of say thank you. I know I can go to places that allow self service like Ryan's or Golden Corral. Hey its America, I can go anywhere I want to suckers.
True story: I went to Out Backs with my family the other day and had the waitress from Haiti. She came to our table to get our drink orders. That went smooth or so I thought::: after 10 minutes of waiting. She came back and apologized because she was working a big table, but still managed to mess up the drink order. No problem we were ready to order and did just that! Well another 10 minutes went past and the salads came out along with our main course. What!!!! Again we dealt with the apologizes. Again, no problem. Well we tried to quickly eat our salads B4 our steaks got 2 cold, but it didn't work. My sister's steak was burnt as was mine. I suggested that we not complain and pay and go else where on me (that on me part is a lie, it just sounded good)but when the waitress returned to ask if everything was cool, we told her and she said we should have ordered medium well. I don't like people telling me what I should have done. I explained that well done does not mean burned. She rolled her eyes and went and got the manager on her on. He was cool and said the right things but it didn't work. He apologized and said he would adjust the bill. I told him it wasn't necessary, but he insisted (that's true). Again, waitress gal returns and said I had to fight with my manager to get you a discount. We was like yeah right! My sister and husband left a tip but not me. I left and went to the car. I heard that the waitress was looking for her tip after my departure. I hope she found it. What she didn't know is I wrote in very tiny letterz....."buy the Thriller album cuz the King of Pop is dead"
Was I wrong from not leaving a tip? Not in my opinion, because if you want it, then act like it. I only tip for people who give good customer service like most professionals do. Heck I was in the customer service field for years and learned what gets good tips. Now I can't give nothing but advice...
Ward up yall......
