Angry People suck......
The other day I was at slow (supposedly fast food) food restaurant ordering a 2 piece chicken dinner. A man walked in, who had placed an order earlier, clearly upset because he thought it took to long for his freakin meal to come. This sucka threatened the employee, shoved him up against the wall and pimp slapped the scared old man!!! The angry dude then grabbed his hot wings and walked out of the restaurant and got in his hooptee and sped off!
I realize that all of us, including me get angry sometimes, because anger is as much a part of makeup as love, hope and anxiety are. I just happen to feel that controlled anger is a better situation. When I get angry, I find that I play some of my best basketball. I am more focused and intense and when I finish, it’s like a calm that comes over my body! But what I witnessed was straight from the dark side of anger! Seems that some people can get ticked off faster and more frequent than others thus allowing the anger to control them. Let’s just call that the incredible hulk feeling! This uncontrolled anger can get you in more trouble in a few moments that can take a life time to get out of. Heck, I was watching that old Spike Lee movie called “Do the right thing” and looking how the mob was forming around the white brother who accidently “grazed” the black brother’s new Air Jordan’s! It was just a movie, but very indicative of reality.
The sad thing about people giving in to anger today can result in others being harmed or even killed. Remember the young black male named Romeo Santana on the Steve Harvey show back in the day. He was shot in the back of the head by a guy who was told that Romeo had raped her. She was lying as it turned out, but she got the other guys hyped enough to go out and kill an innocent man. Truly sad and makes me wonder how many others have died from the same misfortune?
My dad once told me that he had to do jury duty on a case involving a man beating his girlfriend’s toddler to death because he wouldn’t stop crying. It really seemed to have hurt my Dad’s feelings to be a part of convicting a black male due to a double edged sword with the young child being killed too!
Seems like every where we look, someone is upset or being out of control. School killings, poor customer service anywhere, sports teams fighting each other and fans and police brutality has strongly increased!
I actually researched this anger epidemic and found that scientists admit that anger is poorly understood. They did say that “Anger Triggers” are unique to each person. The definition is “Something that frustrates or annoys someone. They can really be jump started with feelings of injustice, disrespect, being slighted or ignored. You know we all been there, but all handle it in our own way. I guess age, gender and culture are variables that help also. Some people get offended when you look at them and hang on to the anger for ever, while others never get upset and keep it moving. When I was a school teacher, I would see kids acting all kinds of foolishness and when their parents would come to the conference, I completely understood why it was what it was lol!!!! If little Jimmie was raised in a hostile house, why would I expect him to play nice with the other kids. I mean it is possible, but aren’t we all creatures of habit, doing what we know how to do? I am starting to feel that anger is like tainted water, once you have been exposed to it, you are more likely to be that way as an adult. If you don’t believe me, watch them prison shows and listen to how them suckers ended up there!
I went bowling last night and had to be cramped in betwixt several ghetto people that made me feel uncomfortable. I almost lost my composure and that would have lead to me losing the bowling game and you know we can’t have that! I think pressure at work, marriages, school and life are hurting people today, but I am confident that there is hope. I suggest adjusting your expectations, practice deep breathing, get a good hobby and exercise regularly like I try to and see what happens. I think the old term is called “Chill-laxing” Leave anger alone people, cause I gotta live in this world with your crazy self.
I am Ward.
