Can old habits be that hard to change

Well I am back to work- fresh off a much needed vacation. Needless to say- I went back to the grind and found that sometimes the very people that we try to assist actually resist the help. I understand that we can't make people see the future that we want them to have because it must be something that they want for themselves. I look at it like this, if we are thirsty and standing in a dark room and some one offers us two glasses of liquid to drink- one has mudd and water as the mixture and the other is pure water- then we may choose the wrong drink. However, when we are brought into the light, hopefully we will make better choices.

Today, I was told by people with no jobs, that the free food they were getting was wack, one person stated that they don't feel its necessary to take the steps that my company deems vital in order to get help. One person even went so far as saying that they could get a job by themselves and have been unsuccessful for 2 years and still looking.

I heard that to keep repeating the same action over time and time again and expect a different out come is crazy. Yet, that is what happens in society. Can old habits be that hard to change? It would seem for some people, but others who push forward and are determined the outcomes is different. I know personally, I have to give 100% to those who want my help and let the others "Do Them".

I respect all the social workers out there because you are the foot soldiers who care when other who should obviously don't. I love you mannn!
