Nevertheless, I corresponded to the seller from my daughters account for two days. We discussed the ins and outs of the vehicle and he assured me that the unit was road worthy and absolutely issue free. I was ready to buy and agreed to travel to Cincinnati from Indianapolis to make the purchase. Ironically, half way there, I received a text message that we have to reschedule the exchange because the car was stalling out but he could have the needed part repaired in two days. I was definitely upset that he waited until I was one hour into this drive and he sensed it. He actually agreed to meet me half way on the next trip.
I agreed and told him that I would bring someone with me (Shonda) and he was ok with that. So car seller (lets just call him Chet) finally met and Shonda and me, half way between Indianapolis and Cincinnati and he spoke strictly to her as if I wasn't there. I won't go into detail about why he was an hour and 20 minutes late. The first thing he said to us was, I only sale to college students and women because those are the people who really need a good quality car. So we walked to the SUV and quickly noticed the SUV was nothing like the ad mentioned. The tires were smoother than a baby birds backside, the strong odor of cigarette smoke almost knocked me out. He had ashes all over the dash and floor! He said the sunroof doesn't open but can be fixed for cheap. Next he said the back up camera was damaged but nobody really needs that anyway. And what about the truck being clean inside and out? He had so many bottles in the truck area (oil containers, empty anti-freeze jugs, old brakes, McDonald bags, dog food and much more. It was actually quite gross and he stood by his statement that the SUV was clean. I looked under the hood and and smelled rotten egg like smells mixed with burning motor oil. This was something very bad and also the reason he was so late arriving for the meeting. The SUV was over heating and he was trying to play me but I peeped game real quick and knew they was a no go, but I played along for GP. Chet went on to have an solution for every problem that I mentioned as he was more irritated that a man was talking to him instead of an unsuspecting woman college student. He just wanted to make this money and move on.
I feel the icing on the cake occurred when he said he didn't have the title but we should just pay him and he will get the title to us after he pays the guy off that he owes money!!!! I was like oh hecky knoll. We decided it wasn't a good fit and explained that we were about to Be OUT like Harriet Tubman was at the window! Chet said he understood and we left.
No sooner than we were down the street, Chet texted a 14 page message talking about how we wasted his #$@& time and how we was picky over damaged or non working features. He was pretty nasty with his language. It really helped me to see how anyone can place an add for something to sale and hope you are a sucker. I image that this guy has been getting over on people for years and was so upset when it didn't go well with us. I think if he had a gun he would robbed me.
Its the world that we live in. Another day another sucka.
*Update= I purchased another black Murano from a guy in town. It needed a little work and has been running great.
